Background I spent 25 years in the software professional services industry. Now I am semi-retired but do work part time in real estate and serve on the council.
Education BBA in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from Southern Methodist University (1991)
I will continue to publicize my contact information with every method at my disposal so that citizens know how to reach me when they have questions, concerns, or are just looking for a little information. In the two and a half years I've served on council, I've personally responded to every citizen that has reached out to me to try to address whatever needs they might have.
My top concerns in this area revolve around the pace of growth in Lago Vista and how the city handles the growth effectively. As we move through our budgeting process, I take a strong look at the development services budget as well as that for streets and other essential services to make sure that we are well prepared to handle the influx of residents. Additionally, I work with city staff to proactively look at land use maps and plans for parks and buffers to make sure that Lago Vista retains its charm, appeal, and beauty.
Lago Vista's transportation infrastructure consists of our road and traffic control infrastructure as well as the CapMetro service offered in our community. I've worked closely with the city manager to push the limits of service we receive from CapMetro and how it can be improved. In addition, I've arranged for CapMetro personnel to visit to discuss their service. With our roads, my main goal as Council Place 2 has been to focus on essential services/infrastructure, including roads. I've focused our budget discussions around how to optimize our scarce tax dollars to improve our road system
A continuing issue in our city is the local golf courses and how they burden the city finances. In my first term, I crafted a strategy of closing one course with the intent of selling it to a private party and focusing our efforts on improving the conditions of our other course. The strategy included providing additional funds to improve our remaining course and it has flourished accordingly. The recent sale of our second course successfully completes the other part of my strategy. My goal in a second term will be ensure we complete the strategy and continue to ease the financial burden.
