Judge Lopez has always worked with families to ensure the success of our children by focusing on fixing the root of the problem, rather than punishing parents and children by the imposition of fines. Many of the procedures utilized by Judge Lopez, such as tutoring, mentoring, community service, counseling and support services, have been adopted by many of the legislative reforms implemented in the area of truancy. Judge Lopez's leadership and innovation have been recognized not only locally, but across both the state and the nation.
Justice of the Peace Court, unlike many other Courts, handles a variety of different types of cases in the areas of civil, criminal and administrative law. Each case has its own sets of laws and procedures which must be followed. It is imperative for a Judge to have both knowledge and experience when presiding over cases in order to ensure that all parties appearing before the Court receive justice. Judge Lopez has presided over thousands of complicated cases including commercial evictions, breach of contract, fraud and various other types of civil, criminal and administrative disputes.
