Specialty Courts allow us to intensely focus on members of our population with high risk and high need addiction problems, in order to restore them to sobriety, to their families, and to our community. No other criminal justice program has as much success at reducing recidivism and protecting our community.
Justice delayed is all too often justice denied. The judge must push the cases through the system so that they are resolved in as timely a manner as justice will allow. The right of the accused to a fair trial and the victim to justice must be respected. It is the judge who drives the docket by setting the cases for hearings and trials, and holding the lawyers and parties to their settings.
