What do you consider the most critical issue Texas will face over the next five years? If elected, how would you approach this issue?

School finance in Texas has generated lots of talk but little legislation in recent years. What is your philosophy on the future of public school funding?

Do you believe America has a problem with gun violence? If so, how do you plan tackle it?

Congress and the President want to repeal the Affordable Care Act, and have taken steps to dismantle it. What role should the government have when it comes to health insurance?

Texas adds about a thousand people a day. This rapid growth has caused several problems. What are the top three issues the government should address because of this growth?

As a Texan, what do you believe is missing from the conversation about immigration and border security? How would your beliefs influence your approach to those policies?

1. Selecting a Speaker of the House that will place both Democrats and Republicans in leadership roles 2. Passing a budget that is morally just and makes significant investments in public education and public health 3. Increasing the state's percentage contribution to public education with a goal of at least 50%
The State leadership has the resources to invest in education it just lacks the will to do so. We have to recognize the single largest investment we can make is our children and their education. We should honor that commitment.
We should prevent guns from being in the hands of violent offenders and those who have a history of domestic violence. We should also pass a "red-flag" law that allows our Courts and other law enforcement officials to legally intervene when armed individuals present a danger to themselves and others.
It is our responsibility to provide health coverage for working families who can't afford it or are not eligible to receive health care from their employer.

The focus of immigration seems to always exacerbate the worst examples of immigrants who do wrong and then associate the blame to all other immigrants living in our state. The fact of the matter is that the majority of immigrants living in this state are hardworking, law abiding and contribute immensely to our thriving economy. I believe we need to tell the complete story of immigrants and immigration in order to put matters in its proper context.
I was fortunate to have the influence of wonderful teachers who invested their time and energy in me both in the classroom and on the football field. The values I learned back then remain with me and they shape my leadership style and my commitment to service.
