I am a small business owner of a consulting company that serves nonprofits. I moved from journalism into the nonprofit sector
Bachelor of Journalism, University of Missouri
With broad experience as a reporter covering police & criminal and civil courts, manager of two statewide social service agencies that deal with vulnerable populations likely to come in contact with the justice system, and as a CASA volunteer, I bring a holistic perspective to the court.A person coming before a court doesn't care what party a judge belongs to, but whether a judge will be fair & not favor the prosecution over the defense. I will listen to the facts & apply the law in a fair & impartial manner without regard to race, ethnicity, gender, age, religion or socioeconomic status.
Staffing & technology to ensure that the court runs efficiently and transparently.
I will make the court more accessible to people by extending hours to include night & weekend hours. I will end debtors prison which means NOT jailing people accused of nonviolent offenses because they cannot afford to pay fines & fees, which will save taxpayers money. I will partner with organizations to address the root causes that land people in court & use alternative sentences that include effective diversionary programs, such as veterans and drug and alcohol courts, thereby connecting people to the resources they need to be productive citizens & save taxpayer dollars.

Law enforcement is not about choosing sides. It's knowing and fairly applying the law. It is a people job, getting to know them, how they react and being compassionate when it is called for.
With 26 years of law enforcement experience I have a grasp of what came before, when someone walks into my courtroom and I have an understanding of why they are there. My previous experience will aid in giving me an unique understanding which in turn will make me more fair & compassionate to all.
The current Justice of the Peace has a phenomenal staff who delivers excellent customer service. However, I don't think you should ever stop striving to better that customer service. With personnel being one of our greatest resources, I will invest in continuing education and training for staff members to ensure the highest level of customer service. Another resource need would be funding for programs that advance automation. An example is a self-service kiosk at the front door with an information app so that people can be directed quickly & accurately to the services they need.
The citizens of Williamson County are receiving a new, modern and state-of-the-art building for JP3 and other county offices, which will be an exciting improvement in itself. I plan to expand on the current social media outreach by providing on-going updates, news, facts, etc. to the citizens of Precinct 3. In addition, I will create a volunteer program to assist in providing even greater customer service without financially impacting the county.
