In the Court I practice in, litigants who are involved in CPS litigation are entitled to Court appointed counsel if they meet federal guideline indecency standards. In the rare cases that a low income family does not meet said guidelines, this court generally appoints lawyers at low cost to the parent, but requires payment back.
This Court insures that juvenile cases are heard in a timely manner. This is normally accomplished within 3 months of a juveniles' case being filed in court. The CPS cases are strictly monitored by the Court to insure compliance with final resolution of the cases within 1 calendar year.
Cases must be strictly decided based on the law and the facts. Any other approach would be unacceptable. Lawyers who contribute to a judge's campaign must understand that no decision will be affected by any outside interference. Lawyers typically give donations to candidates for whom they believe meet the strictest requirements of qualifications.
Insuring that all parties are held accountable for their respective responsibilities. All litigants should understand that they have a right to be in this court, will be held to their respective roles and obligations, and will be treated with respect during all phases of litigation.
